I heard a songbird sing today

A warbled song and away it flew

It touched my heart in a sweet new way

I saw a fresh new raindrop fall

cool as the misty morning dew

It brought relief to a dry parched soul

I touched a soft and silken rose

like scarlet gems of great value

It led my mind to calm repose

Was that soft, silken rose you?

I felt an angel touch my heart

Gave joy in exchange for my rue

I want to know who played the part

Was that lovely angel you?
